Cicily M. Muiruri is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with over 3 years’ post-admission experience. She is a professionally trained trial lawyer under the Trial Advocacy Training Institute (TATI) under Justice Advocacy for Africa. Her application of the law is palpable in addition to being a critical thinker and team player who provides working solutions to the ever-changing socio-economic challenges facing clients.
She is a Master of Laws candidate at the University of Nairobi pursuing an LLM degree with a bias in Corporate Governance law. She attained her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology School of Law (Karen-Campus) and holds a Post-graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
Her specialty lies in Corporate Commercial Dispute Resolution and Litigation, Corporate Governance Advisory, Insurance law, Conveyance, and Property Law, Tax matters, family and Probate, and Administration issues, legal services consulting, and advisory where she has immediate competence.
Cicily has worked for and with various law firms in Nairobi where she had handled complex commercial litigation disputes for clients. In particular, these projects include:-
- Successfully prosecuting the Employment and Labour Relations Petition where the Court agreed with her submissions to award a former employee of a big private company in Kenya Kshs. 3 Million as damages for breach and violation of their Constitutional rights.
- Handling Debt recovery claims for a big locally owned oiled company in Kenya ranging between Kshs. 2Milion to Kshs. 15 Million.
- Litigating on Commercial Dispute matters touching on breach of contract, statutory power of Sale, Insolvency, and Liquidation of companies, Civil and Land matters both at the High Court and Lower Court in Nairobi.
- Successfully litigating on Constitutional and Judicial Review Matters at the High Court.
- Handling Arbitration and Mediation disputes for corporate clients to ensure a win-win situation.
